About the Event
In order to make the forum as productive as possible, we are once again asking for your input on matters of interest. Within the RSVP confirmation, you’ll have the opportunity to indicate your attendance as well as provide us with any questions or topics of concern for the meeting. You'll also have the option of selecting your top 3 topics of interest from a general list. We'll do our best to cover as many topics as possible in the time allowed.
As an initial starting point, we have asked Xay and Charlie to address the City's search for ways to raise additional revenue in light of over $500 million in infrastructure needs that have been identified. These entail, but are not limited to, a potential real estate conveyance tax on residential property sales, the hiring of a professional lobbyist to help with garnering more funds back from the State, and the establishment of a Financial Review Committee to explore other ways to find additional revenues.
We are looking forward to an informative evening. This is our opportunity to hear firsthand from our City Council representatives on the issues they are facing and, equally importantly, to share with them our opinions and point of view.
The meeting will take place in the Friends Conference Room on the first level of the Newport Library.
