Earlier this month, I noted that I had escalated the issue of various members not receiving group notifications. Wix Technical Support has advised that this is a whitelisting issue.
Notifications are being sent, but they are being blocked by the recipient’s server. This happens when the email provider’s server doesn’t think the email is trust worthy so it blocks it…blacklists it so to speak.
Whitelisting is essentially an allow list…emails in the whitelist are trusted and allowed to come through. The fix takes a minute and I’m happy to help anyone who needs assistance.
The email we need to whitelist is: notifications@groups-wix.com
To whitelist an email address in Gmail, you can create a filter in your Settings:
Log in to Gmail in your web browser
Click the gear icon and select Settings
Select Filters and Blocked Addresses
Scroll past your existing filters and select Create a new filter
Add the email address you want to whitelist to the From field: notifications@groups-wix.com
Select Never send it to Spam
Complete Whitelist
Confirm the email was whitelisted
The steps are essentially the same for all email providers…simply click on settings in the upper right hand corner of your email page.
Sorry for the extra step, but we have so many wonderful group activities and it’s a shame if folks are missing out due to a simple settings issue.
